Changes to Be Made to e-Services Summer 2017

Having problems pulling IRS transcripts electronically? The IRS is gearing up for maintenance and an upgrade to e-Services, so there will be times from this week through June when you won’t be able to use the Transcript Delivery System. Here’s a look at the details.

IRS Services Will Be Down Over Memorial Day

As part of the IRS’ annual systems maintenance, several IRS services will be unavailable during Memorial Day weekend. Maintenance will begin Friday, May 26 at 6 p.m. and end Tuesday, May 30 at 5 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).

Unavailable services will include e-Services Transcript Delivery System, TIN Matching, e-file, and Affordable Care Act applications.

Canopy’s Transcripts Tool uses e-Services to pull free transcripts, so it will be down during maintenance as well. If you’ve already been experiencing issues with our tool, that is also due to temporary shutdown on e-Services’ end.

e-Services To Be Upgraded This Summer

e-Services will be unavailable again from the evening of June 15 to the morning of June 19 as the IRS makes upgrades. The goal is to make e-Services more modern and secure.

The IRS has stated that “use of e-Services products will not be affected” and that there will be “no changes to the log-on process.” However, some state tax authorities will not be able to file new or update existing Transcript Delivery System applications through October.

This summer at Canopy, we will be updating our Transcripts Tool to work with the new e-Services updates. It is likely that our tool will not be available as we make the necessary changes. Be sure to check back with us throughout the summer, as we will keep you updated with any new information.
